MOSS MONARCH Natural State shows the mossy leaf-tailed gecko climbing on a branch. Moss, lichens and foliage belong to its illustrated surroundings. The flat body and skin fringes of Uroplatus sikorae echo camouflage markings reminiscent of bark. HIDDEN. NEVER HARMLESS. accompanies the motif as the printed line for this species from Madagascar.

The mossy leaf-tailed gecko is nocturnal and tree-dwelling. Its camouflage can resemble moss, lichens and bark. The scene invites you to trace the relationship between an animal’s outline and its setting. Which line belongs to the branch, and where does the gecko’s silhouette begin?
